rebrand
The Design Club was around long before I was the leader of it, first called Friends of Graphic Design. The idea was simple in theory; be a student group that grows community within Portland State University and surrounding design entities. With our rebrand Koa Baker, Kate Bingaman-Burt and I wanted that message to include a small change; everyone is already in The Design Club. Design Club would not be confused with a traditional club; there were no regular meetings, no club dues, no huge time commitments, and no formal sign up to participate.
Design
The visual language that communicated this idea of inclusivity and welcoming culture we created for the design club rebrand was created by Koa Baker. This includes the choices of illustration style, type paring, and color scheme. Highlighting the fun aspects of design with playfulness and exaggerated characters.

Joint Field Trip
This field trip was the first of it’s kind, three different locations, all of which are available to students and alumni after graduation, the resource roundup became a pivotal point in the focus toward figuring out what information students want and need out of Design Club.
Collage Lunch & Learn
With Kellette Elliott
The Collage Lunch & Learn was the first event of the 2025-2026 school year. The event was very successful, far exceeding our projected capacity of 15-20 people. We invited Kellette Elliott, a collage artist and co-founder of the Pacific Northwest Collage Collective to explain the world of collage to our students and host a workshop displaying her process.
